Three Times in Eternia

When working with ceramics a specific situation arises when the mass - a cluster of minerals, clay and other parts of the soil - can bridge under synthetically set conditions (i.e. during firing). an unpredictably long period of time and become „fossilized“. That is something that a geological time would take ages to create. A wide range of chemical reactions and phase transitions take place throughout the exposure to heat. The clay object inside the kiln ages far faster than its geological nature. Newly formed crystals grow, compacting and sintering the material. Imagining the shift in time of the now created/fired object, at one point brings me back to an unknown moment of the primeval past or to the future - a desolate landscape, crumbling relics of what surrounds us today. A double movement backwards and forwards. I don't know if the clay has aged and returned to the clay deposits, to layers where mining has not yet begun. Or it has aged, stayed in the corner of the room, crumbled with the plasterboard wall and under conditions that we don't yet know, waiting. And it is this vast time frame that leads me once again to  the fossils and the remnants of mined mineral wealth.
